Dugtrio is a Ground Type mole Pokémon introduced in the Generation I Red and Blue games for GameBoy. Dugtrio is a direct evolution from the basic Pokémon, Diglett. Dugtrio’s form is basically three Digletts put together. It is essentially three “hot dog” shaped mole heads popping out of the ground, while Diglett is just one head coming out of the ground. Do they have a body underground? Well according to the Pokémon TV show, there isn’t much underground and they can be picked up,
Dugtrio is first discovered in Diglett cave in Pokémon Red and Blue. They are said to be able to burrow underground and travel at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour! Being ground type, it can learn physical attacks such as Slash and Earthquake, as well as its signature Dig attack. It can burrow underground and avoid attacks for a turn while then coming up and striking its opponent with at powerful blow.
Being Ground Type, it is weak to Fire, Water, Fighting, and Ground type moves. It is resistant to Normal, Electric, Poison, Flying, Psychic, Rock, Bug, Dragon, Steel, and Fairy type moves.
Dugtrio comes in a few different forms; its normal form and the Alolan form.
The Alolan form of this Pokémon is both Ground type and Steel type. The Alolan form has long blonde hair that you would find on a surfer, playing off the Alolan Island Theme in the Pokémon Sun and Moon Series.
Being Steel Type, it can learn a few new move such as Metal Claw and Iron Head. The Steel-Ground version is weak to Water, Fire, and Fighting Type Moves, while being resistant to Normal, Electric, Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Steel, and Fairy type moves. Overall it can be very tough to beat if you don’t have any Fire or Water in your arsenal!
