Columbus Blue Jackets Goaltender, Matiss Kivlenieks, tragically passed away this weekend after an incident in Novi, MI.
According to Novi police, Kivlenieks was quickly exiting a hot tub as a mortar-style firework tilted toward some of the viewers. “The deceased, while exiting the hot tub, slipped and fell and hit his head on the concrete.”
This is a tragic passing for the 24-year old native of Latvia.

The Blue Jackets were hopeful that the young goalie would play a big role for the team in the future after 6 NHL games played to date.
