Sal Vulcano is an improvisational and stand-up comedian, actor, and producer from Staten Island, New York, NY. He is a member of The Tenderloins, a comedy troupe consisting of himself, Joe Gatto, James Murray, and Brian Quinn. Along with the other members of The Tenderloins, he stars in the television series Impractical Jokers, which first aired on December 15, 2011 on TruTV. The show is currently in its ninth season and has been approved for season ten.
The Tenderloins met in an all boys high school on Staten Island. They were members of theater and drama productions as it “was the only way to meet girls”. After high school, the four went their separate ways. After a few years, Murray and Vulcano reconnected. After reminiscing they decided to give comedy a try. It took over ten years for the group to have their first tv show picked up, Impractical Jokers.
In addition to Impractical Jokers, Sal Vulcano is also involved in other show including Joker’s Wild on TruTV and The Misery Index on TBS. Sal also did the podcast “What Say You?” with Quinn for a number of years. He now has two podcasts, “Hey Babe” with Chris Distefano and “Taste Buds” with Joe DeRosa.
Is Sal Vulcano Gay?
One of the first things that pops up in a Google search when you look up Sal is is he gay. The answer is no, he is not. He has stated that numerous times.
This originates from a sketch on Joker’s Wild where all four members of the Tenderloins come out as gay. They did it as a bit to get the other’s to admit that they are gay. None of them are.
Sal is a germaphobe, aracnaphob, and Cat-A-Phob (afraid of cats. I made this word up.) As a result of a punishment on IJ, Sal has a tattoo of Will Smith’s son, Jaden Smith on his thigh. He received an updated tattoo of Jaden in the Impractical Jokers Movie, with Jaden in attendance.
